Developing Your Spiritual Vision With Quan Yin

Third Eye Quan Yin
The All-Seeing-Eye symbol is part of Earth’s creation mythologies and mysteries. This symbol has been passed down through ancient teachings and is found on the American dollar bill.

This spiritual eye is known as the Third Eye, which is the pineal gland and its function has long been recognized by humanity. The Third Eye is located in the center of the face just above the brow line and is the organ of spiritual vision, and is intimately related to karma.

As we become more spiritual in the natural course of evolution we become connected to both the physical and spiritual worlds simultaneously. The Third Eye is considered the highest and most powerful source of ethereal energy available to humans.

When activated the Third Eye becomes the direct line of communication with the higher ethereal planes. Prana, pure life energy is received through this center.

Imagination, visualization and intuition are only achieved through the development of the Third Eye. Until the Third Eye is open the knowledge and memory of the astral plane is unavailable to full waking consciousness.

Consciousness is raised from an emotional nature into an illumined awareness only when the Third Eye is lifted from dormancy. As soon as our sense of ego and personality are set aside and we keep our mental energy intact, we become “conscious” of the non-physical, our inner self and the subconscious.

To begin developing your Third Eye find a quiet and comfortable place to sit with a straight spine. Connect your thumbs and index fingers forming a circle and stretch the rest of your fingers. Rest the back of your hands on your knees with your open palms and facing up. Breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose simultaneously filling your belly and chest. Exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly at the same time. Focus your attention on Quan Yin and your Third Eye and sit in complete stillness for 5 to 15 minutes while continuing to breathe.

Finding Your Talent With Quan Yin's Guidance

Quan Yin Wood Carving
Every one of us is born with talent and it is our ability to bring talent or talents into the physical that makes us very unique.

Talent has a different meaning for everyone. Some people define talent as being able to sing like Lady Gaga to attract large crowds of people and earn a vast amount of money. This incorrect definition of talent has become harmful to everyone because it overlooks the equal ability of talent, which lies within us all.

A challenge most people experience with talent is not being able to identity their particular talent or talents they are able to bring through and share with the world.
Most of us feel lost and consequently sense we don’t know what we should be doing with our life. Experiencing these feelings of being lost and unfulfilled are signs we have yet to discover our specific ability and how it will be of service to the world.
There is no need for worry because it is very difficult to impede talent from being expressed. If you cannot see the visible signs of what you are good at, there people around you who will point them out to you.
Many of us do not appreciate our talent(s) because we often take them for granted. A task we find so easy and natural to carry out may be difficult for others to consider, therefore we must learn to be grateful for our special talent(s) and incorporate them into our daily living.
It is important for each of us to find our extraordinary abilities and talents and to express them. By doing so we will achieve oneness with ourselves and live in fulfillment. Life will flow smoothly and the things that previously kept failing in our life will begin to work out or will easily fall away from us.
Denying our talents and abilities will only lead us to a life of pain because we are choosing to block the natural flow of life within us by stopping a very special energy that can only express itself into the physical through us.
We can begin seeking our exceptional talent(s) by practicing the “Powerful Insight” mudra and asking Quan Yin to guide us into allowing our abilities to be expressed through us.
When you have time, find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably. Breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose simultaneously filling your belly and chest. Exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly at the same time. Bend your elbows and raise your hands in front of your navel. Make a soft fist with your left hand and place it into the palm of your right hand. The back of the left hand is resting in the right hand. Your left thumb is crossed over your right thumb. Concentrate on your third eye while placing your attention on Quan Yin and continuing to breathe, ask for your talent to be revealed to you and/or guidance to express your talent in your daily living. Hold this focus for three minutes.

Seeking Financial Guidance With Quan Yin

Gold Quan Yin
As a result of the current global economical climate there are quite a few people who are experiencing financial challenges right now. When we experience challenges of any kind we are being provided an opportunity to improve our quality of living. With this said, this post will focus on seeking guidance from within with regards to how we feel about money and how we can improve our financial state of being. Here are a few questions to consider:

Why am I financially struggling to make ends meet?
Why do I spend every dollar I earn?
Why do I always let people borrow or take money from me?
How do I succeed at being financially free on a continuous basis?
How can I learn to have respect for money?

If we can relate to one or more of these questions it is time to turn within for guidance to improve our quality of living.

Money is something we all need because we live in a society that revolves around it. When we don’t have enough money we tend to feel we are at a disadvantage or we are inadequate and when we have a lot of money we feel fulfilled and powerful. However, money will not buy love and is not the answer to all of our woes in life. When we realize money is not the answer to the challenges we face in life our life will begin to change for the better. We have been indoctrinated by society to believe money makes us a successful person.

The first step in taking control of our financial life is to question our beliefs about money. Regardless of how much money we earn and accumulate it will never buy us happiness. Happiness is only achieved with a wholesome belief system. As long as we are motivated for the right reasons, we will attract money easily and continuously. However, when we choose to participate in inappropriate activities with regards to money, money will move away from us. BP is a great example of greed at the expense of all life on land, shore and in the ocean. This is why it is important to question our motives and endeavors and consider the outcome of our desires. When we do things that are good for all concerned, we experience positive results that are sustained. It is important to be cognizant money does not discriminate and must be treated with respect like everything else. As the old saying goes, “never take anything for granted” and this includes money.

If we find ourselves always lending or giving our money away to others who we know are taking advantage of us, this maybe an opportunity for us to begin learning how to say “no”. Initially it is hard to say “no”, but we must learn to say it otherwise no matter how much money we receive, there will always be people in our life taking advantage of us. We must never sacrifice ourselves for others and this also means our rewards in life.  A part of becoming stronger within us is learning to say “no”. Life is about being empowered in a healthy manner. To repress ourselves by being what others want us to be is a form of slavery, which permits others to have control over our freedom. The rewards of standing up for ourselves is well worth it. We must hold onto what is rightfully ours and say “no”.

We need to assess our money beliefs because many people believe they will be poor like their parents and because of this incorrect belief they are unable to attract money into their lives. As soon as we replace this erroneous belief within ourselves with knowing we are worthy and deserving of good, we will attract love, happiness and money. There is plenty of money in the world for everyone. We have a tremendous opportunity to correct the inappropriate thinking within us, which separates the rich from the poor. Remember, money is a man-made requirement that has made us all rely on it for our survival.

This is an excellent time to seriously view at our values. If we are in debt we need to see how and why it was created. There are lessons to be learned and now its time to look at our experiences with money and begin change for our financial freedom. Being honest with ourselves will permit us to make empowering changes in our life.

Now that we have reviewed our values and assessed our money beliefs, we are ready to turn within for guidance to transform into empowered and financially free people. Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably. Breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose simultaneously filling your belly and chest. Exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly at the same time. Place your hands together at chest level in front of you as if you are forming a bowl, palms are facing up with your little fingers lightly pressed together. With your eyes focused on the tip of your nose place you attention on Quan Yin while continuing to breathe and ask for guidance to live in freedom.

Quan Yin's "Fearlessness" Mudra

Quan Yin Fearlessness Mudra
Quan Yin has many mudras we can use to align ourselves with her to assist us in overcoming a challenge or accomplish a goal.

In our hands we all hold the ancient keys to self-improvement and self-empowerment. Whatever challenge or situation we may be experiencing in the moment a mudra can help us resolve obstacles and improve our life.

The first mudra being introduced is the “Fearless” mudra: The right hand is raised to shoulder level with the palm open and facing forward and the left hand is held at waist level in an open position with the palm facing up. You should be comfortable and relaxed in this position with your eyes closed or open and focused on an image of Quan Yin. Remember to slowly breathe in through your nose filling your belly and lungs simultaneously and exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your belly and lungs at the same time.

This mudra can be practiced as often as required. Mudras are a treasure to be appreciated, respected and used.

Quan Yin And Her Sister Mary

Quan Yin and Her Sister Mary
Both Quan Yin and Mary embody the feminine ideal of compassion. First, they resemble each other by the loosely fitting flowing robes they wear that covers and hides their bodies. Second, they share flower symbols: the rose is associated with Mary and the lotus signifies Quan Yin’s purity and enlightenment. Both divine mother figures are worshiped by large numbers of people throughout the world.
Simultaneously Quan Yin and Mary were emerging as prominent female figures in China. It was the Christian missionaries who began spreading the image of Mary therefore both gained popularity and acceptance during the 7th century, sharing similar images. The people sensed the correlation between these spiritual “sisters”, sometimes confusing the images of Quan Yin with those of Mary. Depictions of Quan Yin wearing a veil was inspired by the Renaissance Madonna and Child images seen by Chinese artists.
For centuries Japanese Christians faced official persecution and Quan Yin became their protector. They utilized her similarity to Mary, worshipping her image while pretending to be Buddhists and hiding their pictures of Christian saints inside Buddhist statues. There was even a hybrid statue that evolved, resembling the form of Quan Yin with Children, which carried a concealed Christian cross.
Today there are quite a few alters in the East and West, which hold both figures of Quan Yin and Mary; this is evidence of their sisterly task in the world and the dialogue between the two religions.
Quan Yin and Mary have never stopped interceding on behalf of the world, their intersession obtaining endless favors and miracles.
As a side note: Mary is known by many names such as the Virgin Mary, the Blessed Mother, the Queen of Heaven, the Queen of Angels, the Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mother of Mercy, Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Lourdes, the Madonna, Our Lady of Fatima, Mother of God and Mother of Jesus.

Quan Yin Riding The Turtle

the Turtle in the Deep Blue Sea
In Asian mythology the turtle represents cosmic order; its upper shell is symbolic of the heavens, its body symbolizes the earth and its under shell represents the underworld.
Order, creation, patience, strength, stability, longevity, innocence, endurance, protection and Yin energy are symbols Quan Yin and the turtle share.
If we are open to the wisdom Quan Yin and the turtle have to offer us and we apply it in our daily living we will do well in life.
When Quan Yin rides the turtle into our life they bring us the lessons of learning to move at our own pace and not to react in our daily living, but simply to accept and move in our natural methods.
We all have our unique talents and gifts and when we put these lessons into practice we become consciously whole in spirit, mind and body. Having immediate access to the wisdom that lies within us assists us to have a steady approach to life.

Quan Yin Riding The Tiger

The Tiger is a symbol of dignity, ferocity, sternness, courage, protection, the supremacy of intangible forces, wealth and Yin energy.
When Quan Yin is depicted riding a tiger, she is reminding us of her power and poise she utilizes to protect us when we call to her and ask for her assistance.
Quan Yin and the tiger can also provide us with the power to transform our life into a life of fulfillment, enlightenment and mastery of the mundane tasks we must perform in our day to day living, as well as mastery over the material world in which we live in. She also reminds us of our ability to harness the tiger’s power at any given moment to empower ourselves.
Take a moment to close your eyes and completely relax from your toes through your entire body up to the crown of your head. Now imagine yourself in a peaceful and balanced state of being, harnessing the power of the tiger with Quan Yin to guide you in living your life in harmony and fulfillment.
May peace, fulfillment and find you while riding tiger with Quan Yin.

Quan Yin and the Peacock

The Peacock
It is said long ago all of the creatures in the world were behaving badly and Quan Yin came to teach them how to treat each other with love and compassion. As long as Quan Yin was among them, they would treat each other well, but shortly after she left them, they would regress to their old destructive ways and mistreat each other.
Quan Yin returned several times to remind them to be compassionate and loving with each other. Again as soon as Quan Yin would leave them it would not be long before everyone on earth was arguing and fighting. Then one day she came up with a solution. Quan Yin called to her side a large dull brown bird that had very long tail feathers and passed her hands over her face and then over the bird whose plumage was instantly transformed into brilliantly colored shining feathers. At the end of every tail feather is a clear bright eye that stares out at all creatures.  Quan Yin told everyone the peacock would watch over him or her with his eyes and report their behavior to her.
It is said the peacock struts because it is proud of its special role Quan Yin assigned it and that its eyes remind us she is watching over us.
When Quan Yin is pictured with a peacock it reminds us she protects all creatures. Another sign of her guardianship is a depiction of her wearing armor and holding a bow.

Quan Yin a Bodhisattva

Quan Yin in Red Lotus

Quan Yin was initially recognized by East Asian Buddhists as the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, commonly known as the Goddess of Mercy in the West.
Quan Yin was introduced into China as early as the 1st century BCE and reached Japan through Korea after Buddhism was brought into the country during the mid 7th century.
Representations of Quan Yin in China prior to the Song Dynasty (960  - 1279) were masculine. Later images were displayed in both female and male and are believed to be in accordance with the Lotus Sutra, where Quan Yin (Avalokitesvara) has the power to assume any form necessary to relieve suffering.
Artist, novelists and playwrights celebrate Quan Yin and Buddhists, Taoists and lay people worship her. Quan yin is also invoked by believers of various sectarian religions throughout Asia as well as many who believe in her around the world.

Quan Yin and Filial Parrot

Quan Yin and the Filial Parrot
The Precious Scroll of the Parrot tells the story of a parrot, which became a disciple of Quan Yin.

The father of a little parrot has died and his mother is deathly ill. His mother wants to eat cherries, which are only grown in China. Even though being warned of the dangers of encountering people, the parrot ventured out in search of its mother's favorite food. Soon after the little parrot’s departure hunters captured him and discovered his ability to speak. The poachers then sold him to a very wealthy landlord.

As time moved on the parrot proceeded to give sermons and as a result the hunters who caught him renounced their profession and many people converted to Buddhism.

The rich man who purchased the parrot was stonehearted and refused to free the parrot. One day a Buddhist monk came to visit and suggested a way to escape. The parrot pretended to be dead and when the wealthy man saw him lying still, he threw the parrot on the ground. When the parrot managed to escape and return home, he found his mother dead. The parrot fainted away in grief. Quan Yin moved by the little parrots filial faithfulness came to him and with her willow branch sprinkled the parrot with the holy water of life she keeps in her vase, the parrot was revived. Quan Yin also assisted the parrot’s parents in achieving a good rebirth. In deep gratitude the parrot asked to accompany Quan Yin forever and they sailed slowly towards the Purple Bamboo Grove.

Another depiction of Quan Yin and the little parrot is the white parrot carrying the rosary in its beak flying to meet the Bodhisattva.

Quan Yin and Lung Nü

Quan Yin and Lung Nu
The Dragon King sent his granddaughter, a girl named Lung Nü (“dragon girl”) to present Quan Yin with a reward for saving his son from an ill fate after being caught by a fisherman. The gift was the Pearl of Light, which was a precious jewel owned by the Dragon King that shined constantly.
When Lung Nü arrived to present Quan Yin with the Pearl of Light, she became overwhelmed by the presence of Quan Yin and asked to become her disciple to study the Buddha Dharma. Quan Yin accepted Lung Nü’s offer with one request: Lung Nü is to be the new owner of the Pearl of Light.
In popular iconography, Lung Nü and Shan Tsai are often depicted alongside Quan Yin as two children. Lung Nü is seen either holding a bowl or an ingot, which represents the Pearl of Light,
whereas Shan Tsai is seen with palms joined and knees slightly bent to show he was once crippled.
