Quan Yin Supports Life Changes

Quan Yin of Change
Without a doubt most of us are feeling overwhelmed with the current economical and environmental changes we are all experiencing in our lives today.

We can choose to look at the current challenges we are experiencing as an opportunity to take the time to turn within ourselves to find out what matters to us. As we begin to make these discoveries we can begin to move forward in our life and begin our new journey into the infinite opportunities that await us.

Here are a few questions we can ask ourselves to begin this wonderful and magical journey into creating positive and empowering change in our life:

Why am I here?
What is my true purpose of my life?
What is best for me?
What do I want in my new life?
How do I overcome the challenges I face in my life?
How can I live the life I am meant to live?
How can I experience meaning and fulfillment in my life and work?
How can I do work I love and make a satisfying living doing it?
How can I find the time for the things that really matter to me?
How can I experience the success I deserve?
How do I experience impeccable health and wellness?

After taking the time to ask yourself the above questions, find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and close your eyes, breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose simultaneously, filling your belly and chest. Exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly at the same time. Curl you fingers into fists with your fingers pressing on the upper pads of your hands. Connect the hands with the second knuckle of the left and right index finger and the pads of the thumbs. Comfortably hold your connected hands out in front of your naval with your thumbs slightly pointing upward towards your heart. Focus on a specific question for Quan Yin that is important to you for approximately 3 to 5 minutes and relax, permitting the answer to your question to surface to your conscious mind.

Finding Mental Balance With Quan Yin

Kuan Yin Peace of Mind
Mental balance is crucial to our wellbeing and how we function in our daily living because the mind is where everything begins. Our attitude towards ourselves determines our attitude towards the world around us, which determines how well we function and interact with others and the earth.

Through the practice of mudras with Quan Yin the mind can be trained to relax and become focused. Mudras broaden the mental faculties; there is a connection between holding a mudra (hand posture) and breathing while placing your attention on Quan Yin.

We were not born to suffer, become ill and die. We are here to learn to live by spiritual truths that govern all life, however to do so requires a keen intellect and strong will, a product of a healthy mind.

As long as one is out of mental balance, there will be worries, sorrows, anxiety, fear and anger. Practicing mudras with Quan Yin can act as purification for our mind and body so we can live in fulfillment of our life’s purpose.

By taking 5 to 10 minutes in the morning and evening on a daily basis to practice the “Mental Balance” mudra with Quan Yin, we can achieve peace of mind and happiness, which is essential for mental and physical health.

To practice the “Mind Balance” mudra, find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and close your eyes, breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose simultaneously, filling your belly and chest. Exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly at the same time. Place your hands at solar plexus level in front of you and interlace your fingers, palms are facing up, fingers are pointing up and your thumbs are comfortably straight. Close your eyes and focus on Quan Yin’s name and continue to breathe.

Calming Your Mind With Quan Yin

Kuan Yin on dragon
Taking time to calm your mind while you are awake can have powerful benefits such as: lowering stress levels and experiencing a more attentive mind. Anxiety, depression, anger and fatigue can subside thus improving your overall mood.

Not all stress is bad. Stress is a necessary and important element of daily living. Stress can prepare the body or mind in an instant for situations that require immediate strength and action. A little stress can improve concentration and job performance, but when stress continues throughout the day or longer it becomes chronic stress and suppresses the immune system causing rapid aging, making the body retain excess fat, dulling thinking, increasing pain and is the cause of more than 80% of illnesses today. Chronic stress is caused by fear and generally reduces the quality of life.

Calming your mind assists you to discipline your mind. You will begin to have more control of your thoughts and your mind will become clear.

Utilizing and regularly practicing Quan Yin’s “Calming Your Mind” mudra, is one of many techniques that can be used to calm your mind and begin experiencing quality life in your daily living.

The more you practice and become experienced with Quan Yin’s mudras, the more you will be able to answer questions you may have about your inner self (how to live your life with fulfillment). You will become congruent with your Higher Power, whatever that may mean or be for you.

To begin practicing the “Calming Your Mind” mudra with Quan, find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and close your eyes, breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose filling your belly and chest at the same time, exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly simultaneously. Bend your arms in front of you and bring them up to your chest level. Elbows are bent at a 90-degree angle with arms parallel to the ground. Your right hand is on top of your left arm and the left hand is under the right arm. Palms are facing the ground and all fingers are held together and straight. Hold and keep your arms from sinking for approximately 3 minutes, then relax and be still for about 7 or more minutes. Repeat as often as necessary.

Meditating with Quan Yin

Meditating with Quan Yin
Meditation is a holistic discipline available to anyone to use to get beyond the “thinking” mind and move into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Mediation is experienced in many religions as well as outside religious traditions; it has been practiced since ancient times.

Different meditative styles include a wide range of spiritual and non-spiritual goals. Depending on the intent and/or method of meditation practiced, the practitioner can achieve a higher state of consciousness or enlightenment, develop and increase compassion and loving kindness, receive spiritual inspiration or guidance, achieve greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or cultivate a more relaxed and peaceful state of mind.

Eastern meditation techniques have been adapted and are practiced in Western culture. Mudras are one of many forms of meditation used to accomplish spiritual or non-spiritual goals.

The “Meditation” mudra can be used to develop the practice of meditating with Quan Yin.

To practice the “Meditation” mudra, find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and close your eyes, breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose simultaneously, filling your belly and chest, exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly at the same time. Place the four fingers of your right hand on the pulse of your left wrist, pressing lightly and feeling the pulse in each fingertip. Close your eyes and focus on your third eye. Quan Yin's Stress Prevention Mudra

To practice the stress prevention mudra; find a quiet place where you can close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply in through your nose filling your belly and chest and exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your chest and belly simultaneously. Quan Yin's "Fearlessness" Mudra

Quan Yin Fearlessness Mudra
Quan Yin has many mudras we can use to align ourselves with her to assist us in overcoming a challenge or accomplish a goal.

In our hands we all hold the ancient keys to self-improvement and self-empowerment. Whatever challenge or situation we may be experiencing in the moment a mudra can help us resolve obstacles and improve our life.

The first mudra being introduced is the “Fearless” mudra: The right hand is raised to shoulder level with the palm open and facing forward and the left hand is held at waist level in an open position with the palm facing up. You should be comfortable and relaxed in this position with your eyes closed or open and focused on an image of Quan Yin. Remember to slowly breathe in through your nose filling your belly and lungs simultaneously and exhaling slowly through your mouth empting your belly and lungs at the same time.

This mudra can be practiced as often as required. Mudras are a treasure to be appreciated, respected and used.

Quan Yin And Her Sister Tara

Quan Yin and Her Sister Tara
Quan Yin and Tara share the same experience of being females who have attained enlightenment and both are known as heavenly deities who hear and respond to the cries of the world. They also share the symbol of the lotus flower and both are depicted sitting on a lotus flower. Tara is often shown holding three lotus flowers, which represent the three different levels of enlightenment.
Like her sister Quan Yin, Tara shares many different myths about her origin. One legend describes Avalokiteshvara being overwhelmed by his task as a bodhisattva that two tears ran from his eyes, one became the White Tara and the other the Green Tara who assist him in responding to the cries of the world. Tara also works tirelessly for the benefit of all sentient beings, just like Quan Yin.
Another story Quan Yin and Tara share is when Tara reached a high level of realization, a Buddhist monk mocked her, saying that from then on she should consciously reincarnated as a male, since the body of a female poses more obstacles to enlightenment. Tara answered in absolute truth, there was no such thing as male and female, and vowed that she would incarnate exclusively as a woman in order to become enlightened in a female body. After she showed it was possible to reach enlightenment as a female, Tara became known in Tibet as the “Savioress” or “Liberator” and has provided inspiration for generations of spiritual practitioners of both genders ever since, as Quan Yin has done.
